Our Founders:
Mr and Mrs Willard and Ruth Kauth

This is a dynamic virtual community for
alumni of the camps founded by
Mr and Mrs Willard and Ruth Zerkle Kauth
under the umbrella organizations:
the Girls' Vacation Fund, Inc. and the Boys' Athletic League
to reconnect and communicate.

The "Kauth Camps Alumni" website is dedicated
to former campers, counselors, staff, all
who have supported
Girls' Vacation Fund, Inc. and
the Boys Athletic League
organizations and camps,
and to the founders
of the
Girls' Vacation Fund, Inc.
and the Boys Athletic League,

Mr. and Mrs. Willard and Ruth Kauth

"...enriching the lives of many children
who will be benefited
by association with you
for many years to come.

Impressions of camp life are lasting ones,
especially if they are marked with the
greatness of spirit that you can give."
— Mrs. Ruth Z. Kauth

excerpt from a letter to new staff
written by Mrs. Kauth for
Girls' Vacation Fund, Inc. Counselor Handbook,
circa 1950

The creation and maintenance of this website
is one of the ways in which this former camper,
senior camper, and counselor,
wishes to express her gratitude
for your many perfect gifts.

Within this site you may submit articles, post announcements,
contribute remembrances for the Memorial Grove pages,
submit camp related links, camp songs, camping tips and tricks,
and concepts and principles of leadership and activism.

You may register, view, and upload photographs to the Photo Gallery,
post messages and join the conversation in the Community Forum,
and join us for the monthly group chats in our very own chat room.

If you've been "missing in action" for a while,
send an email so we can post your name to the "Found" column
on the "Lost and Found" page. A bit of info about your journey
since your days at camp is always appreciated.

The more people contributing to and taking advantage
of the features of this site, the more effective and fun it will be.
Encourage all, past and present, to keep it going.

Make yourself at home.
As part of our camping family,
you are invited and encouraged to participate.

Pull up a keyboard, take a stroll around the site,
and always leave it in better condition than you found it.

This is a not-for-profit volunteer effort whose goal
it is to provide a dynamic
interactive online community for alumni and friends
of the camps the Kauths built:
Camps Talako, Manitou, Oh-Neh-Tah, Tawanka,
Kiwago, Sebago, Lanowa, Orenda, and Kirby.
